Composing & Arranging

My journey into composing began as a child, improvising small melodies at the piano while my teacher patiently notated them. Since then, writing music has remained a natural extension of my creative life. Over the years, many pieces have grown directly out of the needs of the choirs, ensembles, and individuals I’ve worked with - music shaped by real people, real contexts, and the joy of making music together.

I compose and arrange in a wide range of musical styles and genres, with over 100 published works across the UK, USA, and Canada. My pieces have been described as refreshing, effective, and sensitive, and many have been professionally recorded and released. Several of my works have been featured in the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, and performances take place worldwide, particularly in the US.

Across everything I write, my aim is simple: to create music that is accessible, expressive, and enjoyable to perform. Much of my work is written with amateur musicians in mind, especially those working with limited resources, and I’m always interested in shaping music that supports and inspires real performers in real settings.

I hold several diplomas in composition, including two from the London College of Music, and I am a Writer Member of PRS and MCPS.

Commissions

I warmly welcome new commissions, especially for choral and vocal works. Whether you’re looking for a new anthem, a bespoke arrangement, or a piece tailored to a particular occasion or ensemble, I’m always happy to discuss ideas.

People commission new music for all sorts of reasons: to celebrate a special anniversary or event; to mark a milestone for a choir or ensemble; to honour a loved one; or simply to have a piece written uniquely for the people who will perform it. A commissioned work can offer a sense of ownership, meaning, and connection - music created with your story, your voices, and your context at its heart.

Commissions typically begin from around £50, with fees quoted individually based on length, forces, and complexity. Projects are usually costed on a per-minute basis, with 50% of the fee payable on commencement and the remainder on completion.

If you’re considering commissioning a piece, you can explore my catalogue for a sense of the styles and genres I write in, or feel free to get in touch for an informal conversation.

Performances

There are many reasons performers choose to programme one of my pieces: some are looking for music that is accessible without being simplistic; others want repertoire that supports amateur or mixed-ability groups; and many are drawn to pieces that tell a clear musical story or sit well within liturgical, seasonal, or community settings. Whatever the context, my aim is always to offer music that feels satisfying to learn, rewarding to sing or play, and meaningful for audiences.

If you are performing one of my compositions or arrangements, I’d love to hear about it. With your permission, I can share your event on my website and social media, helping promote your performance to a wider audience. Details of forthcoming and past performances can be found below.
