I work on a monthly ‘subscription’ payment for personalised tuition over the course of the academic year: you pay the same amount every month, regardless of how many lessons there are in any given month. This spreads your payments evenly across the full year (12 months). This is based on me being available to teach for a minimum of 40 weeks in the year (this takes into account holidays and other days I may need to take off for training etc).
You can find a selection of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) here.
The amount you pay, and the number of lessons per year this entitles you to, depends on your normal lesson frequency, as per the table below:
Payments are due on or by the first day in each of the 12 months in the year and are best set up as a standing order from your bank account, but can also be paid by card, cash or cheque.
Ad-Hoc and Additional Tuition
If you don’t wish to reserve a regular weekly or fortnightly slot in my timetable, then you can book lessons on an ad-hoc basis. These lessons, plus any extra lessons outside of the monthly payment system lessons will be charged pro-rata of an hourly rate of £36.00 per hour.
Missed Lessons and Cancellations
As with other regular activities such as a course of swimming lessons, gym membership etc. there are no refunds if you cancel a lesson – as well as actual lesson time, you are paying for me to keep space in my timetable for you, and for the ongoing admin, preparation, training and professional development work outside of your lesson time. I may be able to rearrange a lesson within the same week/fortnight, but this is at my discretion and dependent on whether I have space in my timetable. This also applies to lessons booked on an ad-hoc basis.
If for any reason I have to cancel a lesson myself, I will offer a make-up lesson at a different time, or if a suitable time cannot be arranged, I will refund the cost. Bear in mind that although the monthly fee covers the equivalent of 40 lessons per academic year, I am likely to offer more than 40 teaching weeks.
Termination of Lessons
If you decide to stop having lessons, one month’s notice will be required, and fees will be charged up to the end of the notice period, whether or not the lessons are taken.
Thank you for your cooperation.
